About the Bicycle Hand
I learned to ride a bicycle in the early sixties, in a village on the river Maas, when a bicycle was just a bicycle and you had to choose between the Beatles and the Stones1. Elementary school, high school, college, always done everything by bike. Then various office jobs in government and business. I cycled in my spare time. In 2002 I started a bicycle courier company in Nijmegen that grew into Velocity Bicycle Couriers with over twenty employees. In 2015 it was time to do something different, but something with cycling of course. Under the name De Fietsknecht I started building, repairing, renovating and restoring bicycles. When at the end of 2016 I had the opportunity to take over Willie Willemse's shop on the Willemsweg in Nijmegen, I didn't have to think long. In 2018 my wife and I moved to Cuijk. At the end of 2019 I also moved the workshop to Cuijk, where I am now concentrating on repairs and renovation. Local, small-scale and low-tech2. No more shop, but a webshop. And just under the name The Bicycle Hand. In a village on the Meuse.
1 Stones, of course.
